A “Grand Theft Auto” Kind of Night
April 11, 2008
Last night I dreamt that I really wanted to go someplace so I stole the family van (we don’t own one in real life) with my sis in the back seat. Insisting that I knew how to drive despite not having a license, permit or anything at all-I drove us to pick up some pizza. Parking diagnol was hard. My sis insisted that since she was 17 and two years older than me, that she drive, even though she doesn’t know how to drive yet either (this is true in real life). I said no and we got the food. Backing out was hard too. People weren’t wearing bright colors and I almost ran over some. Assuming it was OK to back out, I put my foot on the pedal. BAM! I hear, making my heart almost pop outta my chest. I tore up the hood of another parked car that was parked behind me and sent in slamming into another car behind it. The cops’ sirens were heard and they opened my car door, dragging me out. They asked for my ID and I lied at first, but then showed them my real one, revealing I was 15 and had no driving experience until now. I was handcuffed. I apologized and somehow they went away afterwards.
On my way home, I blasted the radio, pretty sure everything was okay. The cops were gone. Suddenly a car got in front of me and was going so slow. I went around it on the sidewalk and ran over a mob of people (yikes!). I hurried home and pulled in the driveway. When I got home I saw my parents in the kitchen. My Dad found out somehow about the cops and stuff and was mad. He hit me and said I was gonna go to jail for a punishment. The dream switched to me in jail, sitting on the floor, looking out the window and waiting for lunchtime to come and the punishment to be over. In a way, this is sorta funny cuz in real life I would never drive on the sidewalk and my Dad would never insist I go to jail for a punishment. Plus I don’t think apologizing to the police will make them set you free. In dreams though anything happens and I think maybe my dream was a little like a Grand Theft Auto night w/ the speeding, running over people and cops.
